27 Dec 2023On November 18th, the 20-member 24th batch of Chinese aid Zambia medical team, led by Captain Changju ZHU, visited KEDA Zambia Ceramics Company Limited (hereinafter referred to as "KEDA Zambia Ceramics") to conduct a health knowledge lecture and provide disease diagnosis & treatment, health checks, health consultations, and distribution of medicines to the staff of KEDA Zambia Ceramics.
Located in the southeastern suburbs of Lusaka, the capital of Zambia, KEDA Zambia Ceramics has more than 110 Chinese employees dedicated to their work. The local medical facilities are not well-equipped, and there is a relative scarcity of medical resources, posing threats from tropical diseases and occupational hazards. In order to ensure the occupational health and safety of employees, raise awareness of disease prevention, and enhance the employees' health knowledge, KEDA Zambia Ceramics proactively contacted and invited the Chinese aid Zambia medical team. Prior to the event, they assessed the medical needs of employees and collaborated with the medical team to plan and execute this health service initiative, bringing health services directly to the employees.
Dr. Zeshuai WANG, a member of the medical team, provided detailed explanations on the scientific prevention and treatment of strokes, covering basic concepts, the current situation in Zambia, assessment screening, identification and handling, internal medical interventions, health guidance, and cognitive misconceptions. Dr. Xiaofeng WANG, another member of the medical team, discussed the evolution, causes, and diagnostic measures of spine-related diseases, sharing various positive methods for spinal health management. Both experts used numerous classic clinical cases, delving deep into the content, and providing thorough analyses. Employees of KEDA Zambia Ceramics who attended the lecture benefited greatly.
During the free clinic, the medical team experts utilized professional equipment to provide "one-on-one" and "face-to-face" health consultations and examinations for employees of KEDA Zambia Ceramics. They set up triage stations on-site, including ENT, chest and abdomen, ophthalmology, thyroid, orthopedics, and ultrasound specialties. Tailored diagnosis, treatment, and guidance were provided based on the specific medical needs of the employees. Additionally, medications were distributed based on individual medical requirements.
The free clinic was warmly welcomed by the employees, and there was a continuous stream of staff seeking consultation and treatment. "The company's organization of a free clinic not only allows us to understand our health conditions in a timely manner, playing a preventive role in early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases, but we also deeply feel the company's care and love." Employees of KEDA Zambia Ceramics expressed that they often had health-related issues without the opportunity to receive professional answers. Today, with the guidance and answers from the experts, they gained clarity, resolved their concerns, and found reassurance.
Such free clinic effectively addressed the medical needs of the employees, and alleviated psychological anxiety caused by continuous high-intensity work, allowing employees to feel at ease in Zambia and their families at ease in China. KEDA Zambia Ceramics will continue to enhance its humanistic care efforts, ensuring the physical and mental health of employees, promoting high-level and high-quality development, and extending happiness for a longer duration.
